Whistler Drone Policy

Whistler requires a special flight certificate and insurance for any commercial drone use. No drones are permitted in the Resort due to the 9 KM radius of a helipad: Medical helipad, helipad north of Village and the float plane operations.

If event producers want to obtain a permit to shoot video or photography with a drone as part of their event marketing, they would need to contact the RMOW or Whistler Blackcomb respectively.

RESORT MUNICIPALITY OF WHISTLER

Events that would like to apply for a Film Permit if they are shooting on Municipal property (Village, Parks, neighbourhoods etc.) will need to contact Christa Vandeberg (cvandeberg@whistler.ca or 604.935.8417) at the RMOW Film Office.

Drone operators will need to have a Special Flight Operations Certificate from Transport Canada and insurance.

WHISTLER BLACKCOMB

Whistler Blackcomb requires Drone/UAV Operators to carry a minimum of $5 million (per occurance) Commercial General Liability Insurance AND a minimum of $5 million (per occurance) Unmanned Arial Vehicle liability insurance, with Whistler Blackcomb companies listed as an additional insured with a waiver of subrogation.
